Villa Sjötorp

Dinner was tasty and well made, though there wasn't much to choose from. Breakfast was a letdown: just a basket with some bread and yogurt, with no way to customize it or make requests. The place is cozy, but overpriced and below the standard you'd expect from a hotel. If you stay more than one night, they don't clean the room or make the bed.

We were warmly welcomed at this lovely old-fashioned place, and the rooms are lovely too. The view is incredible. Dinner and breakfast were both really good. I'd highly recommend staying here.

The portions were small, and it seemed like more effort went into making the food fancy than making it really good, especially for a restaurant aiming at the fancy league. We enjoyed the amuse-bouche, a Japanese oyster with rhubarb, which was perfect. The hay-baked kohlrabi starter felt overworked, with too much going on. I liked the fallow deer main with three kinds of carrots, but there wasn't enough of anything on the plate. The dessert, rock-solid biscotti with apple and ice cream, also had too much going on. They pushed pretty hard for guests to take a drinks package, either wine or non-alcoholic. Our group had a mix of drinkers, and I think the people who ordered what they wanted were happier than those who chose the packages. About the owner's response: this is where we went, and I still have the reservation.

The staff's behavior felt aggressive on several occasions, and their attitude made the stay uncomfortable. The service was below par, and it was disappointing to have those issues overshadow any good parts of the visit. I hope the hotel addresses this and makes the atmosphere more welcoming for future guests.
