Värdshuset Lugnet

Breakfast and dinner were very good, and there’s a beautiful marked walking trail about 10 km away. There isn’t much else to do in the area. The buildings and interior have a typical Swedish look. Our room was large, but the bathroom was small and odd: the toilet sat in the middle, the light switch was practically in the shower, and showering left water all over the room. We were there in early September, and it was very cold inside because the heating didn’t work.

A family run place that deserves to be promoted. We stopped here during a cycling trip in low season, and the couple were incredibly welcoming and flexible. They let us keep our bikes inside and gave us great service. It’s cozy and in an amazing spot, and there’s also a fully equipped apartment. Very recommendable for couples or groups.

The room was clean overall and had a good view, and the place has enough atmosphere for a one night stop on the way. We got earplugs, which helped, but the thin walls meant we could hear other guests late into the night. With the road so close, sleeping with the window open would be hard. The bathroom soap dispensers were troublesome, and there were no towel hangers or space for toiletries, so a longer stay would be awkward. For the price, I expected more from the food. There weren’t any vegan choices, not even milk or cheese alternatives, which I rarely encounter elsewhere. If you care about animals, I wouldn’t recommend spending time in the main building, where the restaurant and reception are, because it’s decorated with stuffed moose heads and fish. The private access road was poorly maintained and hard to drive on, and the parking could be better organized. There was no information about where we were allowed to park.

Breakfast had an excellent selection, and we even got a complimentary sauna session, which was a nice bonus. The hosts were lovely, and our room had everything we needed for a great night’s sleep. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone in the area.
