Nimbus Öckerö

From the port where you get off the ferry, it’s a very short trip to this place. The rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable, and the views of the sea, rocks and brygenns style homes were amazing. There’s a large restaurant too. Climb the rock nearby for a breathtaking look at the scenery, and try to catch the serene sunset.

You can sit outside and enjoy the harbour view. There are three choices each day, for 110 SEK per person, with salad, bread and tea included.

The menu changes each day, and on Thursdays the cod with mozzarella and basil was delicious. There’s a wonderful fresh salad bar, and the clean, bright dining area looks out over the sailing boats.

Nimbus is run by a local religious organisation on the islands. The restaurant sits by the sea, with fantastic views and outdoor seating. Lunch is a reasonably priced buffet, good and filling, though nothing award-winning. Tea, coffee and soft drinks are included. As far as I know, they only serve lunch. Local workers come every day throughout the year for 'dagens', the lunch menu. It’s a lovely place to spend an hour or two watching the yachts and local wildlife.
