There’s plenty of room for business events, with lots of meeting rooms and dining spaces, and the food was tasty and unusual, much of it locally produced. They also make local, indigenous soaps and baking items, and the place has a rich metalworking history. Everything was top notch and clean. We’re still riding the high from our stay. We’ve visited a couple of castle hotels in Sweden, and this has been the best so far. We were surprised with an upgrade to Suite Victory, full of Swedish antique luxury and French architectural charm, with our own bubble bath and sauna. The spa has outdoor hot tubs, plus drinks and snacks. On a snowy day, we went for a winter dip in the icy water, then warmed up in the hot tub with drinks. A one of a kind experience.

The spa was a 5/5 for me, with a lake for swimming between sessions in the sauna, bar, and jacuzzis. The area is beautiful and the location superb. Service and staff were great too, and a special thanks to Emil, an absolute legend, 10/10!

We had a Swedish Christmas Table buffet for dinner, with a mix of hot and cold Christmas dishes. Most were good, and I especially loved the mustard-pickled herring. The next day's lunch was boiled cod with capers, pressed potatoes, and green salad, all very tasty and well prepared. I stayed one night in the mansion building. My room was spacious and had a nice atmosphere, though the bathroom was cramped but sufficient. The bed was firmer than I usually like, but still quite alright.

The rooms elsewhere in the hotel looked beautiful and inviting, but our pet-friendly room was a huge disappointment. We paid an extra fee to bring our dog, yet the room felt like old servant quarters, with an aged wall-to-wall carpet and a bathroom of roughly 2 square metres. It fell far short of what I'd expect from a four-star spa hotel, and we spent as little time in it as possible. The hotel advertises itself as pet friendly, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone travelling with pets. Don't bring dogs!
