Stjärnholms slott

The castle and the surrounding park are attractions in their own right. Wander around the castle and you can see and feel its history. It's a nice old castle hotel and a great place to stay, provided you're okay with a simple, plain style. The rooms in the side building at least aren't state of the art. There's no air-conditioning, but otherwise it was great.

The rooms were nice and the service was good. I was there with my confirmation group and got room 43, which staff said was supposed to be haunted. I didn’t hear or see anything unusual, though. The elevator is pretty scary the first time you ride it, then it gets boring. It’s a nice enough place, even if I didn’t find any ghost activity.

Really nice waiters and waitresses, and the atmosphere was great too. The food, beer, and drinks were all great. I really recommend it...

There’s a trail through the grounds down to a little bay on the Baltic Sea, and a shared garden area with a wooden table and chairs for six where you can sit with your coffee and sandwich and enjoy the view. The local riding school and a hostel are here as well. Around Easter and Christmas, there are markets where the local chocolatier sells their masterpieces. The 18th-century mansion was used by the De Geer family and is now owned by the Swedish church, but you don’t have to be religious to enjoy it.
