Dala Wärdshus

We've stopped here for lunch for years, but something seems to have changed in the management recently. This was our last visit. The à la carte portions were tiny, there was no salad, and the register had two overcharges in their favor. They brought the kids' meal only after everyone else had finished, which is hard for a two-year-old to understand. Everything seemed to cost extra, even a request for a Swish contribution in the bathroom to cover paper and soap. They also left items off the order. When we asked, the server went to get one but then ignored it. Asked again, he said it wasn't included, so we had to show him the menu where it was listed.

I only ate here, but the views are amazing and the building is really nice. The food tasted good, yet it seemed like microwave food from the convenience store, with every item on the plate recognizable as frozen. At these above-average prices, seeing a chef around, that's not what I expected. If the chef did make it, maybe change the presentation so it doesn't look exactly like food from a microwave.

We've eaten here on and off for more than 10 years, but this visit will probably be our last. The food has kept getting worse: no salad bar, tiny one-bite desserts, and meals that are below average.

I've had tastier meals and much cheaper ones, too. Our bus stopped at this restaurant, but on the way back I brought my own packed lunch. It was both cheaper and tastier than one of the most expensive meals I'd eaten all week.
