Hotell Humbla

The one thing I’d change is the lack of blackout curtains. The shades did help, but in summer they couldn’t fully keep the daylight out. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Humbla and will book there again next time we’re in town. The location is very central in Sölvesborg, about a five-minute walk from the train station. Staff were accommodating when we needed to change both our guest count and dates. Breakfast was standard, with lots to choose from, including fresh bread and fresh fruit.

The main issue was the shower. It was an unsafe, awkward little stepped tub with two levels, each less than a square meter, and neither gave enough room to stand or turn comfortably. I’m torn between three and four stars. With better communication, an easier check-in, and a different room, I might have given four, but as it was, it felt like three. This is a cute B&B in a neighborhood not too far from the city center. The bed was comfortable, and I appreciated having coffee available around the clock. Breakfast was only OK, with not many choices. There’s street parking, but I had to text the hotel to confirm we could park out front because there were no signs or guidance on the website. No one is at the hotel after 18:00, so if you plan to arrive later, you need to contact them in advance to arrange a door code. That was a little inconvenient with my non-Swedish phone number. There also isn’t much nearby in the way of activities, sights, or restaurants.

It was my first stay, and I’ll definitely be back. The hotel was decorated for Christmas, breakfast was very nice, and the staff were five-star. My room was clean and cozy, with a TV and Netflix. It’s right in the middle of the place, close to the train station and shops, yet still quiet and cozy.

An old mansion, renovated into a wonderfully cozy hotel. Breakfast was great, and there was coffee and a cookie in the afternoon. WiFi was great and parking was free. Honestly, I can’t think of anything negative.
