Ammarnäs Wärdshus

The restaurant served the best food we had on the Kungsleden, and walkers also have a useful shared kitchen and dining room apart from the bar and restaurant. We got one of the larger hotel rooms, which was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The shared areas were cleaned regularly too, which was reassuring. The staff were great, especially Anika, who found us a room at very short notice. A good place to stop and rest.

The single shared toilet for everyone in the cottages and camping area was broken for almost our entire stay. We also had a full day without electricity, so the kitchen and other facilities couldn't be used. On top of that, our cottage had such a strong mold smell that it stayed in our hair and clothes for a while after we left. We expected a basic standard, but this was much worse. We were refused any compensation for these problems.

There wasn’t any laundry service for walkers who need to clean their clothes. I also can’t understand why there’s no drying room on the Kungsleden, when all the STF huts have one, even the wilderness huts. Youth hostels in Britain always provide these facilities.

The hotel has a nice kitchen for campers and people staying there. The staff are very helpful, and the burger is one of the best you’ll find within 100 to 200 km.
