Tärnaby Sporthotell

It was very cheap, at least when I stayed in midsummer. There's no restaurant or breakfast, but guests can cook in the kitchen, which has appliances and cutlery. Bed linen is provided, though you have to make the bed yourself. Maybe the setup depends on the season.

The room was clean but very basic, and I felt they could at least have put the bedding on the beds. The soap in the bathroom smelled like some horrible blue ice slushy. The reception and restaurant area had lovely decor and a cozy feel, and the staff were really friendly. We had dinner there. The cocktail was nice and fairly priced, while the food was okay but the menu was quite basic. Service was very slow, and it seemed like they were short-staffed. We were also disappointed there was no breakfast. We could've sworn the booking said it was included, so we went down the road to tärnaby fjällhotell instead. We used the sauna, but couldn't cool down outside in the snow as we'd hoped. There was a balcony door, but it was locked. The room felt like the sort of basic place large groups of young people might trash 😅.

I was there to ski, and the location worked well: the COOP grocery store is three minutes away and the cross-country trails are five minutes away. The shared kitchen was very well equipped, the owners were nice when I spoke with them by phone, and there's a dedicated room for ski gear. The Wi-Fi barely reached my room. The hotel itself was average, though it had more or less what I needed. I was very disappointed to find the restaurant, fitness center, and even reception closed because of COVID. The website hadn't mentioned this, so it was a real surprise. I'd paid for breakfast, then learned after arriving that I would have to cook it myself.

There was a dead mouse in my bedroom. Really bad, one star.
