We only needed somewhere to sleep during our conference in Mariefred, so Gripsholms BnB worked perfectly for us after all the rooms were booked. Check-in takes place at Gripsholms Värdshus. The room was clean but extremely small, and there was hardly space to move. There’s a kitchen at the end of the corridor and several bathrooms. The heavy doors slam, which can disturb you when you’re trying to sleep.

The shared corridors and bathrooms feel like a detention centre. There’s no staff or breakfast on site, despite the bed-and-breakfast label. Breakfast is at another hotel, half a mile away, then it’s another half-mile walk back if you need to brush your teeth somewhere other than a toilet. Checking out means walking that distance again with your luggage.

There’s a big variety at breakfast, and it was very good. The place was very clean, and overall I had a nice weekend stay. The beds felt a bit too soft and the duvets too thin to me. There’s no TV anywhere in the building.

Breakfast is included in the price, but you have to drive to another hotel for it. Make sure you get the room you booked. We were given a tiny wardrobe of a room, but thankfully they moved us to a larger one, since 7 square metres wasn’t enough for two adults and a small child.

The shared bathrooms and hallway doors could mean noisy neighbors. I hope they fix the door that slams so hard.
