Söderfors Herrgård

The sauna was fantastic, and our room was lovely and warm. We had a lovely view too. Breakfast was a lot better this time, though it still felt a little lacking. I really enjoyed the stay and would recommend this as a nice place to stay.

The setting and location are stunning, and the sauna is wonderful. Swimming off the pier was great. It’s a real shame the restaurant and bar service let the place down so badly. We asked for one person’s starter to arrive with the rest of our party’s main courses. Half an hour later, the starter came without cutlery. Even after asking, none was brought, so we had to get it ourselves. We had three children with us, and their meals took another 30 minutes to arrive. The other dishes came later still. In between, we were given cold fries that seemed to have been sitting on the kitchen counter. The service was chaotic, as if nobody was in charge, and the young waiting staff seemed undertrained. We ordered drinks at the start, but they never arrived, so we had to stand at the bar and wait while they were made. The food was enjoyable once it finally came, but the place has so much potential.

The kitchen and bar had been closed for ages when I arrived after midnight, but they still offered to open the kitchen and make me a pizza and a beer at 1 am. That was extremely appreciated. Simply amazing service.

The location is beautiful, and the rooms are nicely furnished, with good supportive beds. There’s a small gym you can use for free, plus spa facilities for an extra fee. I only stayed one night, and found it decent, though I expected a bit more from such a nice place. Breakfast was a letdown, with a limited selection and nothing memorable. I didn’t eat at the restaurant, so I can’t comment on that.
