An awful place to stay!

We got the towels and toilet paper after asking, but almost everything else about the stay was a letdown. The rooms advertised as cozy family rooms felt like bare cells, with just beds, a desk, a shabby wardrobe, and a broken fluorescent ceiling light. There was no balcony, no outdoor furniture in the garden, and no seating area that we could find. The garden might have been nice years ago, but the place now badly needs renovation. We turned on two neglected-looking floor lamps, and after we mentioned how harsh the fluorescent light was, we were given bedside lamps. The staff were pleasant and happy to explain why things were as they were, but I just wanted what we had booked and paid for. The listing had promised family rooms with a seating area and balcony, a shared bathroom, and towels included. Given the state of the place, I can see why they ask for payment in advance. I doubt they’d get much otherwise.

We were exhausted and cold after cycling there, so we stayed, though otherwise we’d have turned around at the door. The rooms smelled damp and musty, and silverfish were running around. There were no towels, and I couldn’t tell if the beds had been made: the bedspread was on the table and the sheets were wrinkled. The ad said there was Wi-Fi, but there wasn’t. The shared fridge had food that looked several years old. Worst place we’ve ever experienced.
