Hotel Riverside

There’s no free parking, and reception closes at 16:30. After that, the building is locked.

The breakfast buffet was nicely laid out, and while the selection wasn’t huge, it had everything we needed. The room came with a hair dryer, kettle, and refrigerator, and parking cost 35 SEK per 24 hours. The staff were very nice. It was a clean hotel with everything we needed for one night in Uddevalla before a concert in Gothenburg. We’d definitely return if we’re in the area.

Our family room had a small kitchenette, and the hotel is near the city center. The place is aging, but it was clean and well looked after. Dogs are allowed, though there’s an extra charge for them. The restaurant had closed because of Covid19, and the river area in front of the hotel was closed because it was considered unsafe.

The only good thing I can say is that the bathroom was clean. The rest of the hotel felt filthy and creepy, and it looked like it hadn’t been refurbished since 1982. We paid 1159 kr for the night, though I don’t think the rates should be above 400 kr. We were exhausted after arriving the night before and were still asleep in the morning, even though checkout wasn’t until noon. At 09.30, the maid let herself into our room. She came in again at 10.30, setting off a very loud, unpleasant alarm the hotel uses to wake guests who are late checking out. It took a whole hour before a janitor finally turned it off, while we were trying to sleep through it. At checkout, the receptionist said we should put up a do not disturb sign if we didn’t want people entering the room.
