Hotel Slottsgården

We only ate at the restaurant, we didn’t stay at the hotel. The beer was good, and the staff member who served us seemed like a sweet guy, but he didn’t know what to do when we told him the fish was badly undercooked. The pizzas looked gorgeous and even had a nice texture, but everyone in our group who ordered one agreed they tasted like almost nothing. There was a little garlic, which the menu did mention, but none of the mozzarella, prosciutto, or basil flavor I’d expect for pizzas costing over 225kr. Maybe I’ve become a snob without noticing, or my standards have changed, but it was baffling to get something that looked so good and had so little taste. It made me wonder if Slottsgården mostly caters to older diners who’ve lost their taste buds or don’t want much flavor. I also thought it was odd that, with 24-month Parmesan listed on the menu, about half the cheese pieces were clearly pecorino. I didn’t bring it up with the waiter, since I doubt he’d know the difference or see why it mattered. Slottsgården probably doesn’t hear feedback like this often, and might not need it anyway. The restaurant was packed and everyone looked happy.
