Being right beside Lake Vättern gave the place a special feel, and the room's medieval charm suited the setting. I was only there for one work night, so I didn't get to use things like the spa. I did get to enjoy excellent food, including good vegetarian choices, and the staff were warm and welcoming. With centuries of history all around, I'd really recommend taking a guided tour of the museum and impressive church.

The room was clean and nice, and the bed was fantastic. Breakfast says a lot about a hotel, and this one was great: the scrambled eggs were spot on, as were the bacon and lamb sausages. Highly recommend!

The service was brilliant, attentive the whole time without ever hovering. We booked the Christmas package, which wasn't cheap, but it covered all the meals. The julbord was fantastic, with treats like beaver, reindeer and wild boar.

I only visited the spa, not the hotel. It took a bit of effort to find, but once I got there, it was nice. There's a beautiful indoor and outdoor pool area with warm and cold pools. It's a little small, and otherwise has what you'd expect without anything extra. The indoor sandals were really uncomfortable, though.

The village was nice, but this stay was a letdown. The room felt worn, from the bathroom tiles and pillows to the surfaces. We booked a double, yet got two single beds pushed together with a 10 cm gap. There was no way to regulate the temperature, and outside noise came straight in. Breakfast was very poor. I wouldn't recommend it for a young couple.
