Quality Hotel Vanersborg

The room was like a sauna. It was 27 degrees outside and just as warm inside, with only a plastic fan to move the air. The towel heater in the bathroom was turned up as hot as it could go. There's no AC in these areas, hello 2025. Even putting out some fans like other restaurants do would help. I also wasn't told beforehand that the area outside was being rebuilt and closed off, so I was stuck indoors in a hot hotel. The room standard was below what I'd expect from this hotel group: very basic, spartan furniture without any class. Coming from other Quality hotels, this felt like camping or a kids' football boot camp, but I was charged the full price of a QUALITY hotel. If you like the Mello group KAJ song Sauna and want to stay in hot rooms a long way from a small city with nothing to do, this is the place. Otherwise, go somewhere else.

The lobby has a lively feel and comfortable seating, and the service is always pleasant and smiling. It's an affordable hotel, though a little way out from Vänersborg. I found dinner better than breakfast, but the food was good, and the freshly made waffles lifted breakfast from okay to good. The rooms are spacious, with nice beds, fluffy pillows and a pleasantly cool temperature for sleeping, though they're old. I didn't like having two singles separated by a bedside table that couldn't be moved. The easy-to-use gym is a plus.

The hotel feels quite luxurious and upmarket, with good rooms and friendly staff. It has a restaurant, gym, pool, sauna and beauty clinic. The main difficulty is the lack of nearby shops. We came in the snow without a car, which made that a bit challenging.

The restaurant is excellent and attracts plenty of locals, even though the hotel is a little outside the city. I liked the decor and the lovely breakfast too. I've stayed twice and will come back.
