Hotell Havanna

I've only eaten at the restaurant, so I can't speak to the rest of the place. It's a cozy spot to meet friends and hang out. The food looks good, though it's pretty pricey.

The surroundings are lovely, and the staff are amazing. But I had lunch there with colleagues a few times last week, and we expected more from it. At 150kr, there was just one daily option, and the late offer was vegetarian. That meant a large potato with two slices of cheese and some vegetables. It didn't impress me or my colleagues, especially for that price. It's not what I would expect from such a beautiful hotel.

A lovely, quirky place to sit and enjoy life. The food and drinks are excellent, and the rum selection is amazing. The rooms feel a bit old-school, but the cigar lounge more than makes up for that.

The hotel itself was pretty decent: comfortable beds, quiet rooms, and an enjoyable spa. The rooms are dated, though perhaps intentionally so. Breakfast was forgettable, and the coffee was terrible. The place is themed around communist Cuba, and it's hard to miss. Memorabilia is everywhere, the WiFi password refers to Castro and the revolution year, and there's a cigar room. The Swedish communist billionaire owner wrote a book about his love for Lenin, which the hotel advertises and sells, almost as if the Comintern had planned it. In a sleepy town on Sweden's west coast, the whole thing feels absurd. It also strikes me as puzzling and problematic, even if presented like a theme park. I didn't realize how far down that rabbit hole the owner was when I booked. Odd, to say the least.
