Best Western Plus Vasterviks Stadshotell

The hotel was clean, the food fresh, and the staff extremely kind. They even had a locker room to hold our bags after checkout. The location is just a block from shops and restaurants, and the view was nice too. My husband and I found the room very tiny, but it worked for what we needed. The interior design is lovely and the restaurant is beautiful. The breakfast buffet wasn't great, though, and the orange juice was practically water.

The rooms are a little dated, but comfortable, and breakfast was great. Nice location.

The hotel was lovely, spacious and relaxing, and it's near the harbour. Parking was the problem for us. A small lot across from the hotel, with space for about 20 cars, was full both nights after 6pm. It was paid parking and an enforcement officer checked. Twice we managed to park around the corner on the street, where parking is free from 6pm to 9am, but you can only stay for up to two hours.

The room itself was the main drawback. It looked old, dull, dark and depressing, like something from the 70s or 80s, and mine had an old smell. I also didn't like the full-floor carpets, coming from a Nordic country. The bathroom was the only part that seemed decently modern, though it was clean. We mostly just slept there, so the room didn't bother us too much in the end, but it really should be renovated. The hotel is good for the price, with cozy public areas, a very good location and a good breakfast with plenty of choices. Just don't expect anything glamorous from the single rooms.
