After a canoe tour, we spent our last night in Sweden here. The breakfast is hearty and self-service, with options for dietary needs such as coeliac disease. Everything was immaculately clean and well organized. It's about a 15-minute walk into town.

The room was spacious, clean, and almost like a small apartment, though it didn't have a kitchenette and the shower was shared. My bed was already made and very comfortable. It was a little cold at first, but adjusting the radiator thermostat fixed that. The fridge also had a small freezer. The outlets weren't very close to the bed or bedside table, though that was easy enough to work around. I could work in the room during the evening and slept without any problems. The staff were friendly, and the bus stop is just a few meters from the entrance. They called on the agreed day to arrange when I should pick up the key. At check-in, the receptionist explained the straightforward rules. You can help yourself to cookies, tea, or coffee in the dining room at any time. Students get special discounts, and eduroam works there easily. Breakfast was pretty good, if not as extensive as at a hotel. There were several cereals, yogurt, milk, coffee, tea and juice, plus different breads, cheese, vegetables, meat, and eggs you could boil in an egg cooker. I met some friendly, energetic staff during my late breakfast. I first had to rebook after train chaos made me cancel my plans, but they handled it without a problem when I called. After checkout, they rang to tell me I'd left my toothbrush charger in the room. I came back after lectures to collect it, and that went smoothly too. The price felt well worth it, especially compared with other places in Karlstad. I'd recommend it to colleagues who visit often.

I was in a rush to catch my train when I left my calculator behind. About ten minutes later, the staff called to let me know, and since I wasn't coming back until the following week, they offered to bring it to the station. They were already cleaning my room, so that was especially kind of them. I stayed five nights and had a really pleasant time. The rooms and the view were great. 8/5 stars, I'd go again.

Pretty good overall, and it's only a short walk to the city center. Breakfast was simple but fine. Ask about bikes if you want an easier way to get around town.
