Best Western Gustaf Fröding Hotel & Konferens

The hotel is in a convenient spot near the city center and shopping, and it also works well if you’re commuting to Karlstad for work. The restaurant is huge, and breakfast was the best part of our stay, with a great selection. The building and interiors are old, but our room was clean and tidy. The lighting took away some of its warm feel. The gym is small but has the bare minimum for a workout, and the jacuzzi and sauna area was cozy. The pool was being renovated while we were there. Overall, it didn’t live up to what we expected.

The staff were really kind and helpful, and the breakfast was pretty good. There’s a good gym, pool, and relaxation area with a sauna. The Wi-Fi, though, was really poor. I travel here for work, so unreliable internet is a problem, especially for a hotel in Sweden in 2025.

I liked the price, which was amazing, and you still get access to all the facilities at the lower rate. You’ll need to book through one of the friendly apps, though. When I asked at the desk about getting another room, it was three times what I’d paid through the app. The customer service was amazing, and I’ll be back. I gave it four stars because five means excellence.

The staff were kind and helpful, and the buffet was decent for the price. It wasn’t anything amazing, but it was still good value.
