Hotell Villa Borgen

Breakfast was included and really good, with options like yogurt, cured meats, bread and, most importantly, coffee. I think there was a waffle station too, though I didn't try it. Service was quick, and I'd love to return. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable Hotel Villa Borgen was and by the amenities. Most rooms sit around a small courtyard, set a decent distance from the street. There may not be much traffic anyway, but that extra separation made a difference. The rooms are private and have televisions. The neighboring rooms are close, so I expected noise, but I slept amazingly well.

The room was clean and well cared for, with really comfortable beds. It opened onto a shared courtyard. Breakfast was delicious and lovely, and the stay was good value. We'll be back. Villa Borgen is a short walk from the water, yet it's on a quieter street without bar noise. We arranged a check-in after reception hours by calling the staff, and it all went smoothly and easily.

The courtyard is a beautiful, romantic little spot. Friends can come by for a picnic or a drink, and there's a hammock for relaxing. The hotel is on one of Visby's busier tourist streets, but it was still quiet. It's small, clean and comfortable, though not a luxury hotel. Our room had a big bed and mini fridge, and housekeeping cleaned and tidied it every day. The breakfast was delicious and worth adding to the reservation. It also meant we didn't have to eat at a tourist trap or pay for expensive coffees. They even lent us umbrellas when it rained. Great value for the money, and I'd definitely recommend it.

The room was clean and the staff were very kind, which makes me sorry to leave such a low rating for this beautiful hotel. But during my two nights, another family, a grandmother, parents and a small child, were noisy constantly. I think they had booked several rooms. They shouted to each other across the rooms until 11 pm, then at 11:30 pm someone banged on my door for no reason. It was a frightening night. No hotel staff stopped them. Maybe staff aren't there at night. I nearly felt like I was lying in a slum where poor people live. The hotel also says it has its own parking lot, but it doesn't. I had to pay to park outside the city walls, a five minute walk away.
