Örums Nygård Österlen Spa & Konferens

The spa was included with our stay and had unlimited access, which I’d missed at places in other countries. It has a jacuzzi, sauna, a pool that’s pleasantly warm, and seating areas to relax. The surroundings were amazing, too. We got one of the newer rooms at Örums Nygård. It was lovely, with a comfortable bed, fresh bathroom, nice toiletries, slippers, and bathrobes. The staff were very friendly and service-minded throughout. We didn't get to try the restaurant, but it seemed to have outdoor events Wednesday through Saturday. We were there on Sunday night.

The main issue for us was the restaurant noise. It was so loud that we could barely hear each other, though a bit more soundproofing could fix that. Even so, we had a great time and would warmly recommend the place. The hostess greeted us warmly and showed us around. Our room was spacious, with an impressive view over the surrounding fields. We enjoyed the spa and its self-service bar, then had a really good three-course dinner with wine. All the staff were very nice and friendly. We hope to come back soon.

At checkout we raised what had happened, but reception said it wasn't the hotel's fault or responsibility. I don't know what is, if supervising an open pool and giving guests privacy through proper room soundproofing aren't the hotel's responsibility. Was I supposed to just endure it or police the hotel myself? We paid 2.95k kr for one night, including a two-course dinner, and this was the worst hotel experience I've had. The gåsmiddag was okay, though not as good as the only one I'd had before. Later, around 9:45 pm, we were swimming in the public pool when I heard a strange noise from the bubble pool. After having to listen for a while, it became clear someone was moaning in public. It was disgusting and shameless. A few other people were there, but no staff were around to ask for help, so we left and tried to find someone to talk to, without success. Then at 2 am I was woken by people having sex in the next room. The hotel's terrible soundproofing made everything easy to hear, and I couldn't get back to sleep. Spending money to buy suffering seems to describe it. I'd planned to swim in the morning, but after all this, the thought of the pool made me feel sick. The service was otherwise good and the food was fine. The attached photo shows the pool area.

The food was absolutely great, and the staff were kind and friendly. The place was clean and tidy, though parts of the farm-style spa hotel are showing their age. It's in beautiful Österlen, but for what we paid it felt fairly basic, which I suppose may be down to the location. It was over 30 degrees when we visited, and there was hardly any shade outside. More cozy, shaded lounge spots would help. Indoors was stuffy and hot as well, so the ventilation may need an overhaul. The patios outside many rooms offered little protection from the sun, and the restaurant's outdoor seating could use a pergola or something similar. For a spa resort, it's odd that they provide hand soap and shampoo/conditioner but no shower gel. Breakfast was basic but had everything needed. The trays would be better made to order or left out altogether. Soggy cucumber and lukewarm cheese aren't for everyone.
