Sea Palace by Capital Vacations

We spent two weeks here on an exchange. The first week’s ocean-view room had a fantastic view, though the lighting was dim. Most of the furniture seems to have been upgraded during renovations, but the workmanship is poor. For the second week, we were first assigned a room facing the garbage dump hill. We objected as soon as we found out, and ended up in a room with only half the ocean view of the first one. In that unit, the dishwasher door hit the fridge and could only open halfway because it was installed in the middle of the counter instead of at the end. The microwave door also stopped halfway because there wasn’t enough room in the corner. The balcony sliding door needs replacing, and in our first unit the on-demand hot water unit had to be replaced. Don’t count on every appliance working properly. There’s an authentic Chinese restaurant on-site, groceries nearby, free Wi-Fi, and free beach chairs. The daily view of cruise ships coming and going was fantastic. Beach chairs normally cost US$20 a day, so the free ones saved us quite a bit. Staff were friendly and dealt with maintenance problems promptly. But when our daughter-in-law had trouble with the advertised fourth night free rental package, the manager wouldn’t honor it. Be careful with that deal on the Sea Palace Resort website. It’s still a good place for a family vacation.

We had a great time enjoying the island atmosphere and relaxing here. The restaurant is excellent, and the views are great too. Front desk staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful. The resort has a reserved area of beach, and a wonderful fellow does a fantastic job setting out the chairs and umbrellas each day.

Our room was amazing, and the hotel is kept really clean. It’s in a beautiful spot right on the beach. The hotel restaurant is nice, and there are lots of good places to eat around the city.

We spent two days on the island before our cruise, and this hotel suited us perfectly. It was affordable and quiet, with spacious rooms, in-room AC, fast Wi-Fi, and a casual feel. We could walk to bars and restaurants, and the hotel is right on the beach with reserved chairs for guests.
