New Orchid Hotel

After a long search I finally found the hotel. I hadn't realized the parking and reception were along the same route. Check-in was fine, but the receptionist and the location are why I gave it one star. The Wi-Fi worked for exactly 24 hours after I logged in. The room was like a town lodge, which I could accept, but the TV was an old 90s model, not a smart TV. They provided two plastic cups of water and complimentary coffee. The bedsheet wasn't clean, and the blanket and pillows were awful. I wanted to rest, but the bed kept moving on its wheels, and the stopper didn't work. The bathroom was best left unmentioned. Check-out was at exactly 1pm, with a $10 charge for every late hour. It was my first stay and it'll be my last.

The first room my partner and I got smelled of cigarettes, and the blanket had cigarette burn marks. The front desk staff kindly let us switch rooms. The facilities were very old too. For example, the in-room shower had no curtain at all, just what I'd call a pit.

The room was spacious, comfortable and clean, and the bus stop nearby was handy. Still, it had no window and felt quite old, with some smoke smell in the fifth-floor hallway. The only sockets were type G, and they didn't work very well. Of the three, I could use just one with my international converter because it was too big for the others. If you have a type G plug, the room is acceptable for a short stay.

After the tiring drive from Kuala Lumpur, having plenty of parking spaces was a relief. I was lucky to get a spot this time, and at this price I give it five stars. It's cute and simple, without much fuss, and I think it'll be my favourite hotel next time.
