The massage team was super. The hotel looked nice and the food was all right, but €6.50 for a liter of water felt a bit much to me. We’d seen videos presenting Ortus as a lovely place to stay, and the website was very well done. The sauna and spa were fine, but there was nobody keeping an eye on the area. Lots of people were naked despite the rule to stay covered, and others were loud or talking on their phones in the relaxation areas, so it didn’t feel relaxing. When we raised this at reception, the woman said there wasn’t anything she could do, explaining that there are many different people and it’s difficult to meet everyone’s needs, even though phones aren’t allowed in the sauna areas and guests shouldn’t be naked.

The staff deserve a lot of the credit for how pleasant our stay was, especially the reception ladies and the woman in the wellness area. My partner and I enjoyed the range of breakfast choices and the well-prepared dinner, and we were impressed by the saunas and the beautifully decorated salt room. Our small room had a balcony and was cute, with tasteful decor. The surroundings were nicely kept, there was ample parking, and we appreciated being able to store our bikes at the hotel. Ortus Residence boutique hotel is right in the heart of Ankaran, and we were very satisfied with the stay.

We were glad the staff let us stay until 1 p.m. so we could spend a little longer in the sauna, even though checkout was at 11. Breakfast had plenty of tasty choices, and the fish and dessert we had for dinner were both very good. Our room was clean and cozy, without a balcony, but that didn’t bother us since we were outdoors most of the time. The wellness area was peaceful, with saunas at 60°C and 90°C. My wife also enjoyed her pleasant massage. We got a warm welcome when we arrived, and the whole stay at Residence Ortus was lovely.

We had a great few days at Rezidenca Ortus. It’s a quiet spot where you can recharge, close to the Slovenian sea, and the dog-friendly atmosphere brings people who are kind to pets. The kitchen is delicious and prices are reasonable. It’s affordable, and the spa is about what you’d expect from a 3-star hotel. The staff were really nice to deal with, friendly, direct and discreet. I’d recommend giving it a try if you’re around Istria. 🙏

I slept well in the quiet room, and housekeeping kept it very clean. It was spacious and minimal in style, with a comfortable bed. The property is well maintained, with stylish, clean interiors and a welcoming feel. Check-in was quick, and the staff were polite, helpful and flexible. Breakfast had a good spread of fruit, fresh pastries and hot dishes, though the coffee there was bitter and short on flavor. The coffee at the bar was the complete opposite. The only real problem was that the in-room fridge wasn’t working. Even with those small drawbacks, I’d recommend the place. 5/5 ☀️
