Farm Stay Dolinar Krainer

We stayed for two nights in the small room. It had a good bed and a fridge, though the shower was a little cramped. The location was lovely, up in the hills with a great view and away from Bled’s overcrowded center, while still only about five minutes away by car. Our hostess was very friendly and happy to share information about the area. Breakfast was generous and excellent, with homemade products. We loved our stay and will definitely return.

The farm was a great place to stay, and the host was lovely. We enjoyed exploring the nearby towns, and it’s also well placed for reaching several hikes in the area.

I still think about that snowy first morning, opening the curtains to trees covered in snow and the lake in the distance. It felt like pure magic. We were there in January 2017, and the place and its owners have stayed with me ever since. We arrived late in heavy snow, and the road up to the beautiful lodge was too icy for the airport taxi. The owner came down to collect us and made us a late supper. We were the only guests for two or three nights, and we were a young couple with no transport and hadn’t prepared well for getting to and from the lake. The owners kindly gave us lifts into town and back, always with a smile, and greeted us warmly each morning. Breakfast was always so good. It really felt like a second Christmas. I love goats, and these were every bit as sweet and friendly as I hoped. On our last day, the owner gave us a CD of his band, and his son, who was also a musician, drove us to the airport. We loved hearing about the family and their music. I still have the CD and love listening to it in winter. The Slovenian folk music feels so warm and festive. Thank you for the most memorable holiday I’ve ever had. I’m sorry it took us exactly seven years to write this. I kept forgetting to leave a review, but I never forgot you.

Iza was a huge help, arranging pickups from the train station and helping us plan what to do each day. The room was comfortable and had a lovely mountain view, and we enjoyed taking the bikes out too. We had an excellent stay at the tourist goat farm. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Lake Bled who wants somewhere peaceful.
