For the price, the facilities really don’t feel like enough. We paid over €50 per person for a bunk, and I ended up paying €150 for a very crowded room with poor washroom facilities. There are no women-only dorms, nowhere to change, no storage under the beds, and only tiny lockers. The bathrooms weren’t very clean, one shower door was broken, and there was no shower gel or shampoo. I didn’t get a towel at check-in and had to track down a worker. The towels were worn and didn’t match, and there wasn’t a full-length mirror anywhere. The kitchen was chaotic. Even though I labelled my drinks, they were thrown out. I understand Bled is in demand, but I don’t think property and labour costs are high enough to explain these prices for facilities that are so poor and badly maintained. Having to strip your own bed at the end is usually fine at €20 a night, but after paying this much, it felt like they were squeezing out every bit of profit while offering very little. The staff, though, were very friendly.

The social, relaxed feel made it easy to meet other travellers. Colleen, the host, was friendly and knew the area well. She was always happy to suggest a hidden hiking trail or a good spot for sunset views. There’s a spacious kitchen for making your own meals, a cosy lounge, and a terrace where you can enjoy the alpine scenery. The rooms were clean and practical, with comfortable beds and secure lockers. Travellers Haven is a warm, welcoming choice for budget conscious travellers. It’s close to the lake, Bled Castle, the picturesque island, and local cafés selling the famous Bled cream cake. The hostel can get busy, especially in summer, so booking ahead is a good idea. It’s an affordable, friendly base for exploring Lake Bled, and a nice place for solo travellers and backpackers to meet an international crowd. Highly recommended.

The hostel is conveniently close to the bus stop and the lake, and I had a pleasant stay. My room was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Cleanliness was acceptable, though it wasn’t spotless. Even with that small drawback, I’d highly recommend staying here.

The owner kindly let me keep my bike indoors in a very safe spot while I was bikepacking. The place is well located, near a supermarket and within walking distance of the lake, and the staff were lovely. My room had no AC, though, and it got very noisy outside at night.

I’ve stayed in quite a few hostels, and this was one of my better experiences. It’s just up from the lake, with a grocery store across the street. The kitchen had everything we needed, the bed was comfortable, the bathrooms were clean, and the owner was helpful with recommendations. It felt sociable without being a party hostel, and we had long chats with interesting people both evenings. A few small things could’ve been better: the kitchen was a bit cramped, one person’s bed light lit up the whole room, and our door wouldn’t stay closed unless it was locked. I usually cover my eyes when I’m trying to sleep in a hostel, though. I’d definitely recommend the place.
