Hotel Toplice

The kids enjoyed the pools and thermal park, and the hotel restaurant food was decent. Those were the bright spots of our family visit to Hotel Toplice. The property feels outdated and badly needs renovation. Both the rooms and common areas are tired and worn, and to me it doesn’t come close to its 4-star rating. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re coming just for the thermal activities with children.

The hotel felt like stepping back in time, like the Beatles song “Back in the U.S.S.R”. Everything looked tired and old, and the rooms were in poor shape. There was no WiFi signal in our room, the mattress was poor quality, and the AC couldn’t cool the room properly. Dinner had a good variety but, in my opinion, the food quality was poor. There was no drinking water provided, and a 1L bottle cost 6 euros. The tap water smelled like sewage. You pay top money and expect better.

The thermal spa is excellent, and the parking lot is big enough that you’ll always find a spot. The staff were friendly and capable, and there are evening activities for kids from 20:00-22:00. I didn’t see a play area, though. Plan on at least 2 nights to enjoy what the spa offers, but there’s no need to stay longer. The hotel itself felt like typical 3-star quality, not the 4-star place it claims to be. The rooms are small, with a bathroom and small balcony, but everything was clean and functional. The baffling part for a spa resort is the lack of places to dry things: there are no hooks on the walls or doors for all those wet towels and swimming gear, just a tiny rack above the bathtub. Breakfast and dinner were okay, nothing especially tasty, though a little salt would help. They refill the food, so there’s enough whenever you arrive. There are plenty of tables in the dining area. You have to order and pay for drinks at dinner, which I really dislike. If you don’t expect much from the usual 3-star rooms, staff, and other offerings, you won’t be disappointed.

There are pools for every age and taste, and the meals were excellent. The hotel staff were really friendly, and the place was clean and quiet. What a nice spot, see you again soon.
