Spa Suite Dobrna

The duplex setup at Spa Suite Dobrna was lovely, especially the ground floor lounge and enclosed outdoor hot tub with thermal water. Upstairs were two bedrooms and a shower room, but no toilet, so we had to go downstairs in the middle of the night. That wasn’t convenient. The suites are in a former stable block that’s been renovated well. Check-in and breakfast were at Hotel Švicarija, a few minutes’ walk away, where we also got wristbands for access to the full Terme Dobrna thermal spa, including steam rooms, saunas, and indoor and outdoor pools. We also enjoyed walking quietly through the park and surrounding area.

We especially loved the privacy of the Spa Suite, with its own sauna and outdoor thermal-water bath. The setting was beautifully maintained, with lots of room to walk in the quiet, pristine nature. The staff at the Švicarija Hotel were always friendly and easy to approach. We’d be happy to see you again!

At 258 euros a night, this apartment didn’t deliver what it said it would, and I’d advise against booking it. The sauna produced steam but never got warm, and the water in the tub kept draining and refilling with dirt coming in, so swimming in it was practically impossible. If all I needed was a place to sleep, I could have booked a standard room for much less. It was unpleasant to come for just one day, pay so much, and have service people showing up every hour because nothing was working. The receptionist was friendly and clearly uncomfortable. As an apology, she at least arranged a decent dinner at Mlećna Marjanca, a good three-course meal, and two desserts from the cafe when we left. I’ll never come back.

Beautiful place, spotless and tidy. Full marks.
