The apartment was clean and spacious enough for our family of four, and the positive reviews I had read were accurate on those points. Still, I wasn't completely satisfied with our stay. What bothered me from the start was the landlady asking us to keep the children quiet and saying that if they wanted to cry, they should do it at the beach. Children cry spontaneously wherever they are, and when they're happy, they're happy. A few days after leaving, I was still thinking about it. In all my years, this was the first time I'd felt I had to adapt to the host instead of the host adapting to my needs. We were also told the children couldn't ride their bouncer or scooter around the house because other guests might be disturbed. We spoke with the other guests several times, and they seemed to like the children and didn't appear bothered by them. It was a strange concern given how loudly the landlady had to speak to us over the street traffic. The road was so noisy that we could barely hear each other, with thousands of scooters, motorbikes, trucks, buses, and cars passing during the day. I can't imagine a child on a scooter being louder than all that. We weren't allowed to use the garden or even go on the grass, despite the garden appearing in the photos and description as part of the property. We have a garden at home, and people, especially children, use it. Why present a garden if guests can't use it? It didn't seem so decorative or carefully maintained that it couldn't be walked on. Instead, we only had a small concrete area with room for a table and four chairs. Two families staying in separate apartments couldn't sit and eat together. We couldn't use the grill either. The landlady suggested a restaurant on the street that serves grilled food, though she later said she hadn't been there by herself. One of the reasons I chose this place for a short family holiday was the advertised garden, patio, and grill. I wasn't looking for an apartment with a balcony in a block on a busy street. I wanted a house with a fence that we could use. The bed that someone had described in a comment as unbearably loud is still there. I can confirm it makes that noise with every movement. I'm surprised the landlady hears the children around the house but not the bed. It must be audible even from the street. The price of a single stay like ours should be enough to replace it. We had to go to the nearby Aldi to buy garbage bags. It's a small thing, but I was surprised they weren't included in the price of relatively expensive accommodation. I think the language barrier is a basic problem. I'd recommend learning a few simple English words, especially for anyone hosting foreign tourists as well as guests from this beautiful country.
