We got in late and couldn't find the place in the dark, but the owner helped us over the phone even though he was already with his family. The receptionist at the bar in front of the youth hostel was super kind. She made my son an amazing dark hot chocolate, and he still talks about it. The room was spacious, and the bathroom and toilet were okay. We paid to park in a nearby mall lot using an app I downloaded, and the youth hostel also offers a card system. I did notice dust bunnies and leftover food crumbs under the bed. They knew about it and were already working on a solution, so it should be fixed soon. All in all, I recommend the youth hostel. It's nice.

DIRT Take my advice and spend 20€ more on a better hostel instead of staying here overnight. The room was smoky, the manager was drunk, and there was dirt and unsanitary conditions everywhere. I don't understand how this place hasn't been closed. With service like this, it simply shouldn't exist.

Honestly, the place is dirty. If they made sure things were clean and working, I'd be happy with this hotel, at least for the price. Even for budget travel, I'm not sure I can recommend it.

Our room was in a separate building from reception. I stayed with friends in a 6 bed dormitory, with a huge coach in the room. There was a kitchen and places to eat, plus good showers. It was clean, and the rooms were nice. The staff member was nice too, but didn't suggest any good places to visit in town. The man on the night shift could barely speak English. Laundry service was available.

It was okay otherwise, but the welcome wasn't great. You can't get in before 5 pm because that's their policy. In winter, arriving early could be pretty unpleasant, especially for a tourist who doesn't know anywhere in Koper.
