Hotel Aquapark Zusterna

We'd visited before and had an okay experience. This time we drove quite a way to come back, after checking that Google Maps said it was open, only to find it closed when we arrived. Such a shame they didn't let customers know sooner, at least on Google Maps.

The price felt far too high for what you get. Most of the sunbeds and beach umbrellas are broken, and the staff seem not to care. Unless you're after a retro experience, I'd say it's frustrating and not worth it.

There's a great range of pools, slides, and water attractions for all ages at Aquapark Žusterna at Terme Čatež in Koper Slovenia. The place was clean and well looked after, and the staff were friendly and attentive. With the seaside surroundings, it's a lovely spot for healthy fun and relaxing with friends or family. We went during the holidays, so it was a bit crowded. Even so, compared with Portorož's indoor pool, Žusterns offers better value for families and kids. It's right by the sea, though the concrete and road spoil the mood. There is lots of glass and it looks beautiful at blue hours. Garage parking costs 1 euro per hour when you buy a three-hour pool ticket. The place has a retro feel, but everything works. There's a big pool for swimming, one with a slide that my school boy loved, a baby pool, and a few more around the jacuzzis. The water staff were very nice. It was too hot outside for me at times, and I felt dizzy while reading by the pool, so I spent more time there than inside. Bring your own towels, ideally double, and a hair dryer, since theirs is more like a hand dryer. Also bring snacks to eat before or after, as the pool's eating place wasn't open on a February afternoon, though it does open in the mornings.
