The room looked good, and the hotel itself looked nice, but the construction noise kept us awake and the place was covered in plastic. We booked a studio two months ahead, and my girlfriend speaks Slovenian. When we arrived, the owner told us there was construction and offered either a discount or the option to leave. She said she hadn't told us because she was afraid we wouldn't find other accommodation, even though we had booked well in advance. We like to sleep in, but the owner said we had to be out by 9 a.m. so they could clean, and insisted it was normal that we couldn't stay in all day and that all hotels did this. She was rude and looked down on us, two people in our early twenties. She also said we had to keep the room cleaner or pay an extra cleaning fee. The studio kitchen didn't vent the cooking smoke, which set off the smoke alarm. After the owner lectured us about how to cook properly, we were too nervous to use it again. She asked my girlfriend, “Do you know how to cook?”
