Ana Hostel

The bathroom is shared by 20 people, with just one toilet and shower, and it hadn't been cleaned during my stay. The shower had black mold, dust, and sand. There were also signs of water leaking in the bedroom, even though the hostel had only been open for a week, so it seemed like no maintenance had been done before guests arrived. Bits of rubbish stayed on the floor for well over three days, with no vacuuming or sweeping. When I arrived on Monday, I was told lockers would be there Tuesday. I left Friday and they still weren't there. Mattresses and bed frames had been blocking the stairs for days without being moved. The beds weren't clean either. The housekeeper folded and put the pillows and sheets back after people checked out, without removing them to wash. Someone else eventually changed the sheets after we complained, but new guests had already slept on the dirty linen. I also saw staff smoking in the stairwell several times, even though the hostel is supposed to be smoke-free. It sends a weird message to guests and is disgusting. When his boss called to check in, the housekeeper complained about having too much work. She told him to do his job and put up the fans, and then he started complaining out loud. It felt weird, and I couldn't do anything about it. His behaviour was unprofessional. He kept complaining to guests and even demanded my keys, accusing me of stealing them when I was just going into town and still had plenty of time left in my stay.
