Holiday Inn Express Ljubljana by IHG

The staff were friendly every time we spoke with them, happy to help, and all spoke English, which was really useful. The hotel is a 40-minute walk from the centre, as we knew when booking, and there are buses as another option. Our room felt almost new, with plenty of space, a comfortable bed and bathroom, nice lighting, a large powerful shower, iron, big sink and hairdryer. The lounge is small, but we always found a seat. There was pleasant music and a bar for drinks. Breakfast had the basics and more: yoghurt, fresh scrambled eggs, peppers, bread, cereal, cheese and ham, sausages, pastries, milk and alternatives, dried fruit and seeds. I would have liked a toaster, but that’s just my preference.

The breakfast had a good selection, and the front desk staff welcomed us warmly. Still, our double room was on the ground floor, or souterrain, facing a busy street, so there was some noise. The bed also felt quite hard and uncomfortable, despite the choice of two kinds of pillows. A solid option for a stay in Ljubljana, with a few drawbacks.

The receptionist was very kind and suggested Piazza, where we had a great dinner. Breakfast was fresh and varied, too. Our room was spacious, comfortable and very clean, with everything we needed, even an iron. I also liked the Dove set in the bathroom. A very good place to stay in Ljubljana.

We had a good two-night stay. The hotel is nice, the staff are welcoming, and the room is spacious. The bed and pillows weren’t very comfortable for us, though. When we asked for different pillows, they changed them straight away, but honestly I couldn’t tell the soft and hard ones apart. Breakfast was good as well.
