The receptionist was friendly, which was about the only good point. We booked a twin room on the day and found it bare, run-down and smelling of stale cigarettes. There was hair on one of the beds, so I wondered if the sheets had been changed, although the room itself was clean. Nails left in the wall with no pictures, along with the harsh white lighting, made it feel like an abandoned hospital. The men's toilet smelled awful, and the women's one somewhat less so. It takes about 35 minutes to walk to the town centre or 15 minutes by bus. We wanted the cheapest option, but at €32 a night it felt hugely overpriced, especially when a whole apartment closer to the centre costs around €10 more. For a budget place, the price should reflect that. Even if the local abandoned abattoir had run out of space, I wouldn’t pay more than €10 per person per night to stay here.

The staff were kind and friendly, and the beds were clean and comfortable. The place is basic, but good enough for a short trip. The bathroom and WC were clean enough, though the walls are thin. It’s a 15-minute walk from the city centre, and you can pay by credit card. We stayed two nights, from 2017.09.22 to 2017.09.24.

Half the experience of a trip is where you sleep, and I think you can find somewhere better for the same price and enjoy this lovely city and its kind people. The hostel was horrible despite the beauty of Ljubljana. It was filthy: the rooms and bathrooms were dirty, the floors hadn’t been cleaned, and the beds had bed bugs. We were itching throughout our stay. Nobody cleaned the showers, and the sheets were dirty. The receptionists weren’t helpful, the wifi kept glitching, and our room window was broken.

Apart from the receptionists, who seemed quite nice, everything about this place felt sketchy. The hostel kitchen had no supplies, not even basic pots or pans, and its one tiny fridge was always full. Our room was simple but functional, though a few things needed fixing. One light bulb didn’t work, and despite asking while we were there for a few weeks, it was never replaced. The bathrooms weren’t very clean and kept breaking down. The windows didn’t work properly, and we saw cockroaches. We stayed for more than two weeks and asked for fresh sheets, but they weren’t changed. They provide you with nothing; everything is old and falling apart. I definitely won’t come back.
