The fish was divine, so tender it melted in my mouth, and the other dishes were just as scrumptious. You can tell they’re made fresh to order with top-quality fresh ingredients. We stumbled on this tiny restaurant just off the street and were surprised by how fantastic it was. It was getting late and the waiter looked worn out, but he was still really friendly and smiling.

We stopped by Pri Mari for a drink and an appetizer, but the scallops were full of sand. The bread was good, though, and that’s the only reason I’m giving it two stars instead of one.

The service made a great first impression: the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, and everything came quickly. The meal, unfortunately, was disappointing. The waiter highly recommended the catch of the day, but it was very dry and overcooked, with barely any seasoning. The side dish was bland too. We mentioned the problem, and the waiter acknowledged it and apologized, but nothing else was done and there was no offer of compensation. The service was excellent, but I wouldn’t come back because of the food.

Mara's dishes are a real treat, especially with Slovenian wine. The local fish and seafood, made with fresh products, are absolutely delicious. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is decorated with fish, fishing gear, and other fishing items, along with all the many praises and prices it has received over the years. It may be the best restaurant in Piran, and it’s a must-stop when you’re there.

It’s usually hard to get a table, so book ahead. We went twice. The first time, the grilled and fried calamari with potatoes were great. On our second visit we tried the mixed fish plate, and the fish was amazing. The fish soup was just okay, average for me, while the orada carpaccio was amazing too.
