Boutique Hotel Portorose

The TV was useless, and staff told us the next morning that our room was already known to have that problem. The Slovenian channels kept cutting out, and none of the other channels worked at all. We’d wanted to watch TV because the view from the room was so bad. There were other issues too. The toilet’s big-flush button was stuck in when we arrived and didn’t work, though the small flush did. We told the staff, and someone came to look at it. When we returned, the button was no longer stuck, but it was still broken. The ashtray outside the room was also full of cigarette butts and ash, so it clearly hadn’t been emptied. We didn’t mind much, since the view was horrible anyway, as the picture shows. A room with a bad view, a broken TV signal, and a partly working toilet should be taken out of rotation until at least the two fixable problems are repaired. Maybe it could then be offered at a discount. We won’t return, and we’ll advise our travel agency to steer clear of this hotel.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with charm and modern conveniences, and the hotel’s lovely vintage features are kept immaculate. Its location is perfect, but what really made the stay was the hospitality. The staff were professional and attentive from the moment I arrived, and I felt at home. Lucas, Marino, and Nikola deserve special thanks for their dedication and eye for detail. This was my second time at Boutique Hotel Port Rose, and it exceeded my expectations again. The location was good, and that’s about the only positive. I paid extra for a room with a balcony, but ours faced a maintenance terrace and another block, with no view and no privacy. We were only there one night, though I can imagine how unpleasant that setup would be for someone on a summer vacation. I felt disappointed and scammed.

The pool area is sort of cool, but it doesn’t quite work and isn’t very nice or private. The old cars and general decor felt odd and pretty tacky. Food was adequate, nothing special, and the staff could be huffy at times for reasons I couldn’t figure out. It was okay overall.
