The dinner selection was varied and good quality, and the waitstaff were friendly. But the plates and cups were very poorly cleaned at both breakfast and dinner. There was visible residue and texture on them, on top and underneath. That's completely unacceptable and far below any reasonable standard. Clean plates and cups are a basic requirement. We stayed at the Grand Hotel Portorož for two nights. Parking was advertised as available, but when we arrived at 3:00 PM, we were told there was none that day and to “try our luck” the next day when other guests left. Portorož was crowded on the sunny day, so we spent ages looking for a space. It took more than an hour from arrival to get to our room, and we had to walk about 20 minutes to the hotel because there was no parking nearby. It's rated four stars, though I don't know when that rating was given. The room clearly needs renovation. The toilet seat was broken, and the ventilation filter was marked “dirty,” among other problems. I don't understand how a four-star hotel can allow conditions like this. We'd stayed in nearly 25 hotels in 2025, and this was by far the worst one.

The beds were super comfortable, and we had a great view from our room. For my birthday, I received a cake, and the gift I chose was a well-made cake from Cafe Central. The desserts there are amazing. I loved the hotel's design, Christmas decorations, and warm, festive, comfortable atmosphere. It's a wonderful new hotel, with helpful, pleasant staff and excellent breakfasts. Dinner was full of delicacies I hadn't seen at other hotels: scallops, Swiss and French cheeses, slices of different meats, beautifully prepared hot dishes, and desserts. The way everything was served was beautiful and tasteful, too. The hotel has a lovely warm saltwater spa pool and several kinds of Jacuzzis looking over the coast. You can also use the neighboring hotel's pools, though there are more people there. Thank you so much for a great stay!

The hotel looks great, but that's where the appeal stops. When I asked for a simple glass of water, the waitress treated me like garbage. I don't speak Slovenian, but I can still recognize blatant rudeness. If you hate tourists so much, don't work in a hotel.

There were lots of lovely family activities at the hotel and nearby, and the organization made our New Year's stay relaxing and fulfilling. Thanks for that. Most of the staff were really nice. The girl at reception wasn't very friendly when we arrived, but another receptionist was very nice when we left, and the porter who helped with our bags was kind.

Breakfast and dinner were plentiful and delicious, and the wellness area was great even in summer. The staff were kind, and both the hotel and rooms were clean and well kept. Our room was a normal size and perfectly fine. I can only say good things, I recommend this place to everyone. Congratulations to all the hotel staff.
