Remisens Hotel Lucija

The only thing that really bothered us was the garden view room: ours looked straight at a wall, which felt a little claustrophobic to wake up to. Otherwise, we had a wonderful stay and don't understand the bad reviews. The location, food, and big clean pool were all 10/10, with lots of food to choose from. Drinks at dinner aren't included, not even water, so you have to pay for that. Garage parking is €20 a day. We arrived around 11 and got a parking card right away, and reception also gave us a card for the pool. The woman at reception was kind and professional, as was our restaurant waitress. Everyone was polite, and the staff speaking different languages was a big plus.

The room was spacious and the location was good, but the cleanliness really let me down. The toilet bowl hadn't been cleaned, and the old towels had hair on them. I also found cockroaches in the bed. The plates in the dining area always had something sticky underneath.

The room itself was good, the bed comfortable, and breakfast really delicious. Dinner was acceptable for a 3-star hotel, though there wasn't much variety. Still, the stay was a disappointment. We arrived by car and were charged more than the stated €20 per day for the garage, with no explanation of why or how. I had paid for a sea view room, but could barely see the sea. The outdoor pool by the sea, across the street and featured in the photos, was one of the main reasons we booked. It wasn't open in mid-June. Reception told us it would open in four days and to go to the beach instead. The indoor jacuzzi was out of order too. At dinner we learned that half-board only includes water at breakfast, so a glass costs €2.50. Tables were messy and service disorganized: it took about 20 minutes to get two cocktails, and just as long to get plain water.

The place is beautiful, close to bus stops, and has two pools. The indoor pool and jacuzzi were good, breakfast was normal, and some of the staff were really nice. The receptionists were lovely, especially the girl at the restaurant entrance. I gave it 4 out of 5 because some other staff, including the bar guys and some waiters, stared at me in a way that felt suspicious. My room had a dirty towel when I checked in, and getting the key took until 15:25. Rooms facing the nearby road hear all the traffic. The outdoor pool needed repairs, had no heating, and the water was cold until 17:00, even though the pool closed at 18:00. Breakfast coffee was terrible. At dinner some food was overfried, too salty, or too fatty. There wasn't anything boiled, or food for vegetarians or children. The only vegetables were potatoes and a few tomatoes, and the fruit selection was small: watermelon, orange, and grapes.
