Hotel Pomaranča

We had a lovely view of the castle from our cozy, modern room, and the staff were friendly. The food was high quality and came in generous portions. Some dishes, especially the soups, were cold or too salty, and dust had collected in visible clumps where the floor met the walls. Still, the restaurant was notably good for both breakfast and dinner.

I really enjoyed the restaurant, and the hotel was nice too. Comfortable room and pleasant staff.

There’s a huge menu here, from risottos, pizza, salads and pasta to meat and vegetarian dishes, plus house-made ice cream, cakes including raw ones, juices, tea, coffee and more. They also offer seasonal specialties, like pumpkin soup in September. Prices felt middle of the road. The food was amazing: both the Caesar salad and the chicken, mushroom and tofu salad were filling and tasty, and the zucchini and chicken risotto had lots of meat. The restaurant has a real sense of Ptuj’s charm and tradition. It was quite full at lunch, with several tables reserved, so we waited a long time for our order. The staff weren’t especially friendly.

We had no trouble finding parking, and the hotel sits just across the pedestrian bridge from Ptuj’s old town, about a seven-minute walk away. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and the English breakfast was tasty, with eggs and ham or bacon, cereal, yogurt and fresh orange juice.
