Motel Sofia

After a long trip, this motel is a handy spot to rest, mainly because of where it is. The rooms are comfortable and have what you need, and the staff are friendly. If you arrive at the right time, there's a chance to have a great dance too.

We stayed one night at Sofia Motel, and it wasn't a pleasant stop. The room was run down, with old, worn equipment and a bed so uncomfortable I could feel every spring, even through my yoga mat. On arrival, the reception felt more like a smoking room, and you have to pass through the bar where drinks are served to reach the rooms. It seems geared mostly toward truckers needing a quick overnight stop. I can't say what made me book it, but I hope this helps someone else. I wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay; if you can, look for somewhere more comfortable and pleasant.

The hostess is such a lovely, warm-hearted woman. The place itself feels cozy, quiet, clean, and like home. I could happily stay forever!

Don't stop here. It's a horror, and the photos are misleading. The place sits between a truck parking lot and industrial warehouses. The village, 700 meters away, is much nicer. I don't have any photos because the host never showed up.
