Hotel Šachticka

The views and the exterior are beautiful, and there’s a free observation tower nearby to visit. Parking is free too, and the service was good, no complaints there. Inside, though, the decor feels quite old and the hotel could use renovation. Breakfast was the same each day, with a poor selection, especially later on. The indoor pool was small, and I found hair in it several times. It wasn’t all bad, but at this price I’m sure you can find better elsewhere.

The reception staff were especially helpful and welcoming, and the manager there was a kind, professional gentleman. The whole team was outstanding. In this breathtaking setting, you can head straight to the slope, or unwind with the spa, sauna, pool, massage, billiards and darts. The food was very good, too. The hotel has the feel of an old hunting lodge, full of trophies, and it’s very well maintained. They even offered us tea and cookies for free. Keep up the good work!

There’s a big parking area and outdoor seating where you can have a drink, and the service seemed nice. The location works well for hiking, with trails all around, and Banska Bystrica is fairly close by car. The building would definitely benefit from major renovation, especially outside.

The Slovak food served here was amazingly delicious, and the surrounding area is picturesque. There’s plenty to do, including a steam room, sauna, pool areas and a covered outdoor jacuzzi. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and do their best to make your stay enjoyable. Just keep in mind that the building has stairs, so people with walking difficulties or using wheelchairs may face some limitations. Even though walking is challenging for me, I’ll definitely come back.
