Penzion Kachelman

We were shocked by how rudely the waiter spoke to us after I ordered french fries, accusing us of blocking his way and complaining about how he had to work. We hadn't done anything wrong. There were five of us with a baby, and although the terrace was completely empty, we sat at a smaller table for four so I could keep the baby close and have a cozier spot. He had already made an issue of us not moving to a table for five. I also ordered a glass of prosecco and was served Frizzante instead. When I asked where it was listed on the menu, they said it wasn't listed, though they do serve it. The whole experience was very disappointing. Even two people who arrived with a child at the next table decided to leave after seeing what happened.

The food was tasty, and for the prices the portions were generous and big. You can pay by cash or credit card, and there's parking for cars or bikes. It's right in the city centre, though the constant traffic makes it loud. We came for a family lunch and left a bit disappointed: when we asked for ice in our lemonade on a hot day, the waiter said they had none, and his attitude felt unwelcoming.

The daily menu cost €6.90 and came in a good-sized portion. The traditional Slovak food was tasty, and the staff were really friendly and welcoming.

For the price, it's a nice place. The room was clean, warm, quiet, and fine, with old furniture that gives it a bit of charm. Breakfast was delicious, though starting it earlier would give guests more choice. The bin in our room was broken, and I would have liked a kettle there, but maybe that's not something to expect from a three-star hotel.
