Whenever I'm in Bardejov, this feels like home. Everything's just right, thank you!

The peaceful riverside spot near the Teplá was a real highlight, with a lovely green playground for kids and a café where parents can sit. Across the bridge by the tennis courts, we found what seemed to be the only restaurant open. The rest of Bardejov was a huge letdown over the Easter holidays. Even with lots of visitors from the Czech Republic, Germany and Switzerland, every museum, the information center and all the restaurants were shut. Coffee was about the only thing you could easily get. The UNESCO-listed city felt completely dead, and the center looked shabby. Beyond the walls, housing estates seemed to stretch in every direction.

The view from room 4 is wonderful, with the UNESCO-listed square spread out below. Getting up to the rooms means tackling quite a lot of stairs, though. The accommodation is right in central Bardejov, the rooms are clean and the shared kitchen, used by all four rooms, has enough equipment. The main drawbacks were the awful squeaking from the stairs inside the room up to the attic and from the bed.
