Blue Lotus Apartments

We booked the five-bed apartment with a few friends because it was cheap, and I found out why. At least one window wouldn’t close during freezing winter nights. I came back from that icy hell yesterday and now I’m at home with a fever and the flu, trying to get ready for New Year’s Eve. Thanks for nothing! 🤬 If you’re thinking of staying here, avoid this prison at all costs.

The apartment itself was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed for a short city break. It’s in a great spot for exploring Bratislava, within walking distance of Bratislava Castle and the parliament of Slovakia. There’s a beer garden next door, plus a busy street with restaurants and places to enjoy. A Tesco shop next door stays open until 10 pm, and there’s plenty to see nearby. The airport is only 15 minutes away.

The room was fairly clean and didn’t smell, and the shower was fine and clean. But the bathroom is shared, and there were no shower gel or shampoo products. The windows don’t block sound at all. With the street busy until 1 am, it felt like I was lying on the pavement instead of in my room. The AC worked, but dripped water inside. Wi-Fi had no internet during my two-day stay, though you might be able to catch the city’s free Wi-Fi if you’re lucky.

We couldn’t get into our room until 4 pm, though it was supposed to be ready at 11. Before we arrived, the owner never sent entry instructions, and there was nothing in our email or spam folder. We tried email, WhatsApp, and phone, but got no response. At 3 pm, she sent the wrong room code. The cleaning lady could help us enter the building, but the staff didn’t speak English, and we still couldn’t get into the room until the owner got in touch. After we finally checked in, the owner asked us to leave because she didn’t want to accept her mistake. She stopped harassing us only after I said I’d call the police. The room was dirty and smelled like piss. The shower flooded, there was barely any toilet paper, the sheets looked dirty, the pillows smelled horrible, and the air conditioner leaked water. Not even a hostel should be this messy. There’s no elevator, so you’ll have to carry big luggage up two floors. We were two adults, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with kids or elderly people. Please don’t stay here.
