Hotel Blue Bratislava

The self check-in didn't work, as other people mentioned, and nobody answered the calls. We had to book another hotel and lost two hours of our two-day trip.

Breakfast staff were attentive. The breakfast itself is simple, but that's about what you can expect from a 3* hotel. There's warm water in the shower, though not hot. The carpets in the rooms look like they're living out their last months, and the hotel has clearly been in use for a long time. You might have no problems, but unpleasant surprises are possible. Our group stayed several nights and had several rooms. If you arrive late, you may find yourself fighting with the reception machine because the codes and PIN aren't clear from the hotel's initial contact, and you have to try calling the administrators. You might be given a room that someone is already using, or one that hasn't been cleaned after previous guests. The automatic room key can break too. After a late evening walk, we spent a long time in the corridor waiting for help. Even when someone arrived, the issue still might not be fixed, and you might not get an actual key to lock the door since the hotel has only one. You may not run into these issues, but don't say I didn't warn you.

The price was very good for such a nice hotel, and the staff were really friendly. Our room was small, but clean and quiet, with furniture and a TV. Internet was stable and good. We were pleasantly surprised to find bottled water, tea, and coffee in the room. The bathroom was good, though the shower screen is poorly designed, so the floor gets completely wet when you shower. The location is good enough for getting downtown by tram or bus, and the stops are right by the hotel. There's also a restaurant on site with a breakfast option. I didn't like Cesar there.

The room was roomy, the bathroom was nice, and the bed was comfortable. We had a room facing the main street, though, and the traffic noise was pretty noticeable. The hotel doesn't look like much from outside, and it's a bit far from the city. Having a car made that manageable. We couldn't figure out how to use the AC at all.
