If you’re a deep sleeper and price is all that matters, you might be okay here. We couldn’t sleep at all, though, and didn’t feel safe or well cared for. In the middle of the night we could hear a fight in the next room word for word through the very thin walls. Reception didn’t answer, so other guests called the police. They could only get in after the people inside opened the door. The police settled things, but the arguing carried on, and the hotel manager showed little understanding of how unsettling it was. The rooms are old and worn, and we found stains and hair in the bed. It felt like this kind of hygiene problem happens regularly, which was disgusting. Another problem: if you’re still there after 10 AM, you can get locked inside. The key cards stop working and there’s no staff around to help. There are a couple of upsides. It’s a fairly large hotel for the price, parking is included, and a taxi to the old town costs just €5. Still, if you want a clean room, to feel safe, or to get any kind of service, book elsewhere.

Jacob was the one bright spot, really kind and helpful. The bathroom was nice too, with a lovely shower. The beds were hard, and the room wasn’t fully made up when I wanted it cleaned. There were awful smells around the hotel, and the layout felt unwelcoming, almost like a spooky hospital. I can’t comment on the restaurant since it was closed for refurbishment.

The night staff were nice, but the older woman wasn’t. I’d asked for a late checkout until 1pm, which costs 20e after the 10am checkout time. At 11am she came to my door and told me to leave immediately or she’d call the police. When I said I’d requested late checkout, she yelled that I had to go now. There’s nowhere nearby for food or shopping, and the hotel has no food or drinks facilities. It’s a taxi ride from anywhere, so do yourself a big favour and choose somewhere else. Bratislava old town is wonderful.

The location is close to the center, but the conditions made it not worth staying there. The room smelled like a toilet, and the bed linen was dirty, stained, and smelly. The walls were disgusting, the bathroom was in terrible condition, and noise came from all directions, upstairs, downstairs, and the door, so resting was impossible. I also seriously scraped the underside of my car in the underground parking and had to replace the shield. This place doesn’t deserve the 3/4 stars it claims to have, not even one. I’d pick any other hotel, even if it were farther from the center or cost more, just to have decent conditions.
