Zruby Pod Chopkom

We stopped here on our way back from the Austrian Alps and wanted to try skiing in Tatry. The place is warm and cosy, on the northern side of Čhopok mountain, with the lifts very close by. The apartments have what you need for a holiday. The owner’s surprise that evening was much appreciated 😁

Cosy, comfortable log houses close to nature, and a great place for a family holiday. I’d take off one star because there isn’t much privacy: there are no curtains on the windows, and people walking around can see the jacuzzi.

The new cabins, A to E, are comfortable, cosy, clean and in good condition, with a solid price for what you get. The WiFi in them, though, was practically unusable, reaching only 0.12 Mbit/s at best if you got lucky. In the main Chata, the mountain hotel, it was around 2 Mbit/s and fine. We asked if someone could at least restart the router and were told someone would come, but nobody showed up. That missing star is for the internet. On a weekend break, I didn’t expect to be so offline that Spotify wouldn’t even log in to play music I’d saved rather than stream. It felt like 2007.

The host was friendly, and the whole house is spacious and good for kids. Everything is very basic, but nicely decorated.
