Hotel Ostredok

The service was lovely and my friends enjoyed their meals, but there wasn't a vegan dish on the menu. The kitchen kindly made me pasta with plain tomato sauce instead. That's a nice gesture for the kind of restaurant they're aiming to be, though it still leaves quite a bit to be desired.

The mountain view from the restaurant and bar is magnificent, and the location is excellent. People are nice, the rooms are large, and the spa is decent, if not great. The rooms do the job and have plenty of space, but they're a bit cold and lack atmosphere.

The room was huge, with a double bed, a single bed, and a small fold-out bed, plus a wall TV, desk and chair, and built-in wardrobe. It had no fridge or kettle. The bathroom was clean and had a shower and sink, but the toilet area was ridiculously narrow. I had to leave one leg outside behind the toilet just to open or close the door. We were on the second floor, and I think there was another floor above. There's no lift. Reception is just to the right of the main entrance, with the wellness entrance beside it and the restaurant opposite. Finding the hotel was easy: turn right off the main road between the hill and trees, then drive uphill about 200 metres. Parking is limited, either on the left along the entry road or on the right just before the hotel. It was made even tighter by Czech tourists leaving their cars far apart. Maybe they all use wheelchairs, so I'm not going to judge, though there are steps at the hotel. Breakfast was included and had a great selection; it runs from 8 to 10 a.m. We were hungry and ate dinner there too, which wasn't included and had to be paid for. The menu wasn't large and seemed rather expensive, though the portions were big. There's a bar if you're thirsty or fancy alcohol. I booked the wellness area, which has wet, dry and infrared saunas and an outdoor jacuzzi. I didn't realize it cost €15 per person to enter, and that's my fault for not asking. The staff were friendly and helpful. Three of us paid €105 per night after booking quite late. Would I stay again? Probably not, since I always judge by the room price.

The location is great, less than half a minute on foot to the ski lift in ski boots. Our room was spacious and had lovely mountain views. Good food, a sauna, parking, and a ski storage room with a boot dryer, plus kind staff.
